The truth slipped out quietly
a small pebble squeezing out of a hole
that was barely there.
Wrapped in grief
I only saw it
out of my peripheral vision
I squinted
facing it head on
and its impact startled me
running me over
like a determined boulder.
And yet
it was only the size of a sand grain.
That is the astonishment
of truth
To be so big
it must be small.
To find it
you must wait
watching from the corners of your eyes.
